If your child is undergoing orthodontic treatment while participating in an athletic activity, it’s important to take some extra precautions to keep their teeth and mouth safe from damage. While orthodontics and sports can go hand in hand, if your child wears braces or Invisalign, it’s wise to safeguard their smile during athletic activities.

Wear a Mouthguard

If your child has Invisalign, we recommend taking the aligner trays out and replacing them with an athletic mouthguard while playing sports. Just be sure to keep the Invisalign trays in a safe place and put them back in right after the game to achieve your desired orthodontic results on schedule.
