What Is an Orthodontic Emergency?
May 30, 2020 1:43 pmWe understand that it may be hard to determine if an issue with your orthodontic hardware or treatment is an emergency situation. In this blog post, we go over a few situations that call for urgent treatment.
Orthodontic Emergencies
When you first get your braces, have them adjusted, or get a new set of aligners, it’s normal to experience some tenderness and soreness in your teeth, mouth, and jaw. But this discomfort should dissipate as your mouth adjusts. Intense pain during your treatment that can’t be helped with ice or pain relievers is abnormal, especially for several days. Call Meason Orthodontics for emergency treatment.
It is an emergency if any part of your orthodontic appliance breaks. We want to get this fixed right away so your treatment progress isn’t derailed.
Another emergency situation is if a stray wire is painfully jabbing into your cheek, tongue, or lips, causing irritation and cuts.
While on the phone, we’ll walk you through what to do and let you know the soonest you can come in for emergency orthodontic care.
Our Sterilization Practices
We are open for routine and emergency orthodontic care. Please know that we’re upholding the highest standards of infection control when it comes to keeping our space clean and safe for both our patients and our team members. We meticulously sterilize our instruments and dental technology and disinfect our clinical surfaces. Our office also has minor modifications in place such as asking patients to wait in their cars until we are ready for their appointment and our team wearing increased amounts of PPE. Everything we do is to help your visit be as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
